About Shimiltei

Shimiltei Hanim (Lady Shimiltei) is the Goddess of the underworld in Turkish and Altaic mythology. She can fly behind the clouds whenever she wants. She is the leader of all female shamans connected to the underworld.

A shaman is a spiritual leader or healer in Turkic tradition. A shaman is believed to be able to communicate with the spirit world and use this ability to heal physical and spiritual ailments in the community.

In Turkic traditions, shamans are believed to possess special powers, including the ability to communicate with spirits, heal the sick and predict the future. They are also believed to be able to enter into a trance state in which they can communicate with the spirit world and receive guidance and insight.

Turkic shamanic practices involve a journey into the underworld. Journeying to the underworld is about journeying into the source; to the beginning. Underworld journeys are about connecting with the original source, the realm of spirits. It also represents a journey within the self.

In Turkic traditions, the underworld is a place of beauty and is not equated with Hell. The underworld is a place of learning, a place to which the shaman must travel.
